The hearing examiner, or any deputy examiners, shall be appointed by the mayor with confirmation by a simple majority of the city council. The examiner shall be employed on a contract basis. An examiner pro-tempore may be appointed in the absence of the examiner or for reasons prohibiting the participation of the examiner in hearing a matter at hand. (Ord. 1457, § 3, 1999.)
