There is created the office of city attorney. The city attorney shall have the duties as provided in RCW 35.23.111. The city attorney position shall be filled by appointment by the mayor, subject to confirmation by a majority of the entire city council. The city attorney is subject to removal from office by the mayor with concurrence by a majority of the entire city council. The terms of employment may be specified by a contract executed by the mayor with the approval of a majority of the entire city council. No provision of the contract may be contrary to the requirements of state law or city ordinance. (Ord. 1258,, 1995.)
