Any person or entity who violates any provision of this chapter shall, except in the case of an exigent situation as determined by the fire code official, be notified in writing by the city and given at least seven days to remedy the violation without punishment. If a person or entity fails to timely remedy a violation within any notice-and-compliance period or causes a violation that creates an exigent situation as determined by the fire code official for which no notice-and-compliance period applies, the person or entity shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and subject to punishment of a fine up to one thousand dollars or by imprisonment up to ninety days, or both, for each violation. Each day following expiration of any notice-and-compliance period shall constitute a separately punishable violation on a per-day basis. (Ord. 2208, § 1 (Exh. A), 2023; Ord. 477,, 1972.)
