1.10.044 Police department.
(a) Police Department Created. There shall be in the city of Selah a police department, a chief of police and such number of police officers and other personnel as the need of the department may require.
(b) Membership. There is and shall be, in the police department a chief of police and other full-time positions as the city council may from time to time determine.
(c) Powers and Duties.
(1) The personnel of the police department shall have such duties and exercise such powers as shall be from time to time determined by the city council or mayor, in accordance with federal, county, city and state laws, ordinances and statutes.
(2) The police chief is authorized to donate unclaimed bicycles to nonprofit charitable organizations for use by needy persons as allowed in RCW 63.32.050. (Ord. 1367,, 1997; Ord. 1091, §§ 1, 2 and 3, 1993.)
