The animal control officer or his designee is authorized to take into custody and impound any animal found in violation of this chapter, and shall place all such animals taken into custody in the city animal shelter. The animal control officer shall notify the owner, if known, of the impoundment as soon as possible via phone, door hanger or other means as may be reasonable. The owner of any impounded animal is responsible for all charges, fees and veterinary services.
