(a) Dog and cat license tags shall be issued for the lifetime of a dog or cat and shall be obtained from and issued by the Selah police department.

(b) All dogs that reside within the city limits shall be licensed pursuant to this section.

(c) Cats within the city of Selah are not required to be licensed pursuant to this section, but may be licensed in a similar fashion to dogs at the same fee schedule.

(d) The license tag fees for dogs and cats shall be as follows:

(1) Twenty-five dollars for a lifetime license tag for any dog or cat belonging to a nonsenior citizen. For purposes of this section, senior citizen shall be defined as sixty years old or older. Senior citizens shall be assessed a lifetime license tag for dogs or cats of ten dollars.

(e) There shall be a lost license tag replacement fee of one dollar.

(f) Penalty. A person failing to license their dog pursuant to the requirements of this chapter, shall have committed a civil infraction with a forfeitable penalty of fifty dollars. (Ord. 1344,, 1997.)
