(1) When a stack of combustible materials fronts a street, alley, railroad or railway spur, or a public right-of-way, a minimum walkable access way shall be maintained around the entirety of the stack that is:

(a) At least five feet wide; or

(b) At least whatever greater width (beyond five feet wide) that applies per the city's then-adopted version of the International Fire Code.

(2) When a stack of combustible materials does not front a street, alley, railroad or railway spur, or a public right-of-way, a minimum walkable access way shall be maintained around the entirety of the stack that is:

(a) At least twelve feet wide; or

(b) At least whatever greater width (beyond twelve feet wide) that applies per the city's then-adopted version of the International Fire Code based on the size of the stack.

(3) A minimum five-foot horizontal clearance shall in all circumstances be maintained from any electric power poles and lines, from any telephone poles and lines, and from any similar poles and lines used for other utilities or services.

(4) A minimum fifteen-foot clearance shall in all circumstances be maintained between any fire hydrant and a stack of combustible materials.

(5) The storage of liquid propane gas tanks shall comply with the International Fire Code as adopted by the city of Selah. The minimum distance between a combustible material stack and a tank of a size that would be capable of holding five hundred or more water gallons is ten feet.

(6) Any access way or clearance distance shall be kept free of any obstruction or other combustible materials at all times. (Ord. 2208, § 1 (Exh. A), 2023; Ord. 477,, 1972.)
