(a) The following holidays are recognized by the city:

New Year's Day

Upon approval of department director

(b) Any holiday falling on Saturday will be celebrated on the preceding Friday. Any holiday falling on Sunday will be celebrated on the following Monday.

(c) Nonexempt regular full-time or part-time employees will be paid for the holiday plus their regular rate of pay for any time worked on the holiday. Such time must be pre-authorized by the department director.

(d) Temporary employees will be paid at their regular straight-time rate for hours worked on a holiday.

(e) New employees hired prior to July 1st will be entitled to a floating holiday for that year. New employees hired after that date will receive one-half day as floating holiday in the year hired. (Ord. 1090, § 7.10, 1993; Ord. 578, § 1, 1975.)
